2012: Nacelle lidar at Høvsøre

Høvsøre is currently used for testing and calibrating nacelle lidars. A nacelle lidar measures wind speed and direction using laser light. It is designed to be mounted on top of the wind turbine’s nacelle, where it measures the incoming wind. This allows for the omission of a measurement mast in front of the turbine.

However, this measurement method is associated with greater uncertainty than a mast, which is why measurement masts are still used at the Test Center Høvsøre.

From 2012 to 2023, more than 80 nacelle lidars have been tested at the Test Center Høvsøre.
