Power and Energy Systems Summer School

The DTU Power and Energy Systems Summer School is an intensive five-day programme exploring the latest developments and applications of machine learning and optimization for energy systems.

Power and Energy Systems Summer School

Founded in 2016, the summer school brings together researchers, industry experts and students to explore current challenges, methods and technologies shaping future energy systems. Through lectures, discussions, and collaborative activities, the summer school creates an environment for knowledge exchange, professional development, and new research connections. Participation has continued to grow in recent years, increasing from 59 participants in 2024 to 71 participants in 2026.

Programme highlights

Each edition is developed around current research topics and invited speakers. While the programme evolves from year to year, previous editions have included: 

  • Lectures by leading researchers and  industrial companies  
  • Research presentations and discussions  
  • Networking opportunities with participants from academia and industry  
  • Social activities 

Growing year after year

Since 2016, the DTU Power and Energy Systems Summer School has developed into an established platform for researchers, students, and professionals working in power and energy systems.

Key information

The summer school welcomes PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, final-year MSc students, researchers and industry professionals with an interest in power and energy systems.
The summer school is a five-day in-person programme combining lectures, discussions, research exchange and networking activities.
Participants may earn 2.5 ECTS by attending the summer school and completing the requirements of the current edition.  
Applications typically open towards the end of the year.
