Last week colleagues, partners of the industry and public sector, friends, and family joined us to celebrate 40 years of contributions from our head of department Peter Hauge Madsen in a farewell reception at our installations at Risø.
Notable speakers at the event included Claus Nielsen (Director at DTU), Anders Vedel (Chief Scientific Advisor (previous CTO) at Vestas), Peter Hjuler Jensen (Deputy Head of Department at DTU Wind and Energy Systems), Tomas Breddam (Mayor of Roskilde), Jørgen S. Christensen (Green Power Denmark), Henrik Stiesdal, and Cathy Suo (Head of Division for Wind Energy Systems at DTU Wind and Energy Systems). And finally, Peter Hauge himself shared a few words about his career, personal experiences, the history and development of the wind industry, and the impact of our department on both Denmark and the global stage.
The speeches addressed the strong collaboration between the academy and industry and the inclusion and diversity of academic backgrounds and cultures as critical remarks to provide better sustainable solutions to accelerate the green energy transition.
As a department, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for Peter Hauge's outstanding contributions to the department and the renewable energy industry over the past 40 years. His vision, passion, and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the field and driving progress toward a sustainable future. We wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement and hope he continues to inspire and guide future generations of renewable energy professionals.
