At DTU Wind and Energy Systems, we offer the opportunity to combine solid theoretical foundations with applied engineering practice within the field of renewable energy and energy systems
The department is internationally recognised and provides access to advanced laboratories, research turbines, and state-of-the-art simulation facilities. The programmes integrate mechanical, electrical, and aerodynamic disciplines, while also addressing the wider energy system context such as power systems, grid integration, energy markets, sector coupling (Power to X), and energy storage. We prepare students to understand the next generation of wind power and a resilient, sustainable energy system, and to apply this knowledge to real engineering challenges.
Close collaboration with industry and public stakeholders ensures that teaching and research are closely aligned with current developments in the energy sector. Through project-based work, internships, and partnerships with companies and organisations such as Siemens, Energinet, DNV, Vestas and Ørsted, students gain experience with real data, real technologies, and real projects ranging from wind turbine technology to power system operation, grid planning, and the integration of renewables at scale. Graduates leave DTU with both in-depth knowledge and practical competencies, well prepared to contribute to the green transition and the development of future sustainable energy solutions.
