PhD at DTU Wind Energy

At the DTU Wind and Energy Systems, our PhD programme leads cutting-edge research in wind energy, power systems, and sustainable energy technologies.

With over 120 PhD students representing around 40 nationalities, the department offers a truly international and vibrant environment designed to help them grow as scientists and make a tangible impact on the real world. Each year, around 35 PhD students graduate, contributing to the global energy research community.

PhD students have access to unique large-scale test facilities at Risø Campus, Østerild National Test Centre, and Høvsøre Test Station, gaining hands-on experience with infrastructure found in very few other places worldwide.

The department combines expertise across wind technology and energy systems, strengthened by strong industrial engagement, Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, global partnerships, leadership roles in EU projects, and collaborations with over 400 industry and academic partners.
