Grid compliance tests

Grid connection tests are intended to document the prototype wind turbine’s ability to function as a stable unit within the electrical grid. This is done by performing a series of tests, which may vary depending on the market where the final wind turbine is to be sold.

One of these tests is called ‘Fault Ride Through’ (FRT). FRT is a kind of stress test for the wind turbine, where unstable grid conditions are simulated, and the turbine must demonstrate that it can continue stable electricity production despite these unstable conditions.
