2007: Lidar tests at Høvsøre

The meteorological mast south of the turbine row enables the testing of new laser-based wind measurement devices, known as lidars.

DTU thereby contributes to the development of new measurement methods.

In particular, ground-based lidars are being tested. A ground-based lidar is an instrument placed on the ground that uses laser light to measure wind speed and direction at various heights, similar to a tall measurement mast. However, this method is associated with greater uncertainty than a mast, which is why measurement masts are still needed at Test Center Høvsøre.
