Strategy
Wind and other renewables are growing at a rapid pace and the energy system is undergoing a fundamental transformation through the deployment of new technologies, systems and services.
Gearing up for the global energy transformation” is the title of our new 2024 department strategy that responds to this change and outlines our vision and ambition for the future.
DTU Wind and Energy Systems builds on a legacy of being the preferred partner to the energy sector and the academic community to develop green technologies. We aim to maintain and develop our role as the go-to global knowledge partner for tomorrow’s wind energy and energy systems in core competence areas.
To do so, we have made a new strategy to support our vision of a society fully powered by renewables with wind as its backbone.
The strategy identifies four key challenges facing society, that we want to help address through our research, innovation, education and science-based advice:
- Advancing the next generation of wind energy to support the European wind energy sector.
- Designing a resilient, renewable-based energy system.
- Enabling a fast and fair, sustainable energy transition.
- Education tomorrow’s technology leaders in renewable energy systems.
“We are a fast-growing department in a field of research that is expanding. The strategy is developed to ensure we grow wisely and provide the best possible framework conditions for existing and new colleagues to do research and education with the highest impact.” Morten Jeppesen, Head of Department.
