Student Projects

Each October, students, companies, organisations, and researchers meet to discuss project proposals and potential thesis collaborations. Throughout the year, students and organisations can work together on projects within renewable and energy systems, tackling real-world challenges. Students gain practical experience and apply their academic skills, while companies and organisations can explore new approaches and engage with emerging talent.

For students

A student project lets you work on real-world challenges with an external company or organisation. You can do this as your bachelor projector master’s thesis.

Through a company project, you gain insight into professional working life and hands-on experience in a real-world setting. You also get the opportunity to apply your academic skills to practical challenges. At the same time, you build your network and gain experience that strengthens your CV.

Below, you’ll find a practical guide on how to get started and the Project Catalogue 2025.

For Companies

At DTU we invite companies and organisations  to collaborate with students on projects that address real-world challenges. Projects may be defined by the company or organisation and are guided by a DTU supervisor, allowing students to carry out analyses, literature reviews, and research while your organisation provides practical input. You determine the level of involvement, from supplying data and attending meetings to potentially implementing the results. Collaboration provides an opportunity to explore new approaches, benefit from student-driven research, and engage with emerging talent.

In many cases, companies already have existing contacts at DTU Wind and Energy Systems. If you are unsure who the right person is, you can find inspiration by exploring our research divisions.

The annual DTU Wind and Energy Systems Project Day is held every October. Here, companies present proposed thesis projects directly to students.

You can find the project catalogue here. Projects are available at both BSc and MSc level.

If you would like to participate in the next Project Day, please contact: studies@windenergy.dtu.dk.

You can post your project on DTU Career Hub. Please note that projects advertised here typically represent only part of the department’s overall project portfolio.
The educational coordinator can help guide you to the relevant programmes, supervisors, and project formats.
