The section takes a holistic approach to wind turbine blades, integrating all aspects that contribute to their structural integrity, performance, and sustainability. Our ambition is to establish a strong scientific foundation for the design and development of safer and more competitive wind turbine blades.
Our research spans the entire lifecycle of blades - from design, loads, manufacturing, modeling, damage mechanisms, testing, monitoring, and validation, to operation and maintenance. We also address certification, sustainability, and industrialization to ensure that research outcomes can be translated into robust industrial solutions.
We develop methods and tools for full-scale and sub-component testing, as well as for manufacturing processes. We embrace digitalization by integrating sensors, data analytics, and digital twins to enhance the understanding, efficiency, and reliability of wind turbine blades through research and software development.
