Research Software Engineering

Our ambition is to accelerate research impact by developing high-quality software, digital platforms, and data infrastructures that bridge domain science and technical implementation. We enable research to be directly used by industry, policymakers, and the public, ensuring reproducibility, scalability, and long-term value.

We serve as the center of gravity for research software development in the Wind Energy Systems Section, designing and maintaining the software, digital platforms, and data infrastructures that transform scientific research into actionable tools and resources. Our work spans stand-alone applications, web portals, APIs, and shared libraries, but goes beyond development alone: we establish best practices for software engineering, provide technical governance for licensing and sustainability, and ensure tools are user-friendly, reproducible, and scalable. These solutions are developed in partnership with researchers, who lead their dissemination as both open-source and commercial products, maximizing impact across academia and industry.
