IMPACT: Improved Adhesive ConnecTions for Wind Turbine Blades

Objective:
The objective of IMPACT is to develop computationally efficient and accurate fatigue lifetime prediction methods for adhesive connections in large utility wind turbine rotor blades.

Expected outcome:
Improvement of the existing design guidelines to improve the fatigue damage tolerance of adhesive joints leading to a reduction in material and O&M costs for LM Wind Power leading to more cost efficient blades. The improvement of the design standards will benefit DNV’s competitive advantage as a certification body. Moreover, improvement of the design standards benefits the wind industry as a whole. improvement of the design standards will benefit DNV’s competitive advantage as a certification body.
